Clopidogrel associated with reduced risk of atrial fibrillation
Abstract
Methods: We conducted an observational retrospective study to assess the impact of cardiac drugs on the risk of new-onset AFib. The study included patients hospitalized at a research cardiology center during 2012–2019 without baseline AFib and with available follow-up data (n= 10074, 35.8% women, median age 62.0 [54.7–70.0] years). Most features were extracted from electronic health records using text-parsing tools with regular expressions. Some, such as drug names, were extracted using the fine-tuned" RuBioRoBERTa" model. Data were filtered for outliers and errors after extraction. Seventy-five features, including drug names, were selected to train Random Forest models with SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP), which break down feature interactions into additive contributions, showing each feature's average marginal impact on predictions.Results: During follow-up, 9.1% of patients developed AFib …
